Service Building in Rutland, VT
Last week, I was on vacation in Vermont where I visited the town of Rutland, VT. Rutland is a what most would consider a town, but in such a rural area of Vermont, it stands out like a small city.
Rutland’s architecture is absolutely stunning for its location and size . I took dozens of photos of the town’s mid 1920s and 1930s architecture on just the two or three streets I walked down.
Of all of the buildings, one rose above all others: a seven story art deco gem topped with a golden pyramid spire and clock face. This building, know as the Service Building was completed in 1930.
For those who may be interested in scratch building this structure, the red-framed, arched storefronts to the left and right of the main front entrance are 14 feet wide each. That may help estimate other measurements.
