Jim Boyer’s New Essen Station

For this week we turn our focus to user Jim Boyer.

Jim has been working on a layout in his garage called the Schuylkill Valley Railroad Company.  Currently Jim has been working on a new section of his layout that will feature the city of New Essen.  For his city he needed a larger station and what he did to solve the dilemma was to do some very cleaver kitbashing or as he calls it “a kit mingle”.  What he did was to combine a used Faller Karlsberg Station and Kibri’s Factory Building for the head house.  He then added a Vollmer Karlsbad Station Platform Hall for his train shed.  He did a great job at taking three European kits and turning into something you could find in most cities in North America.  Well done Jimmi.

Jim’s layout is very impressive and coming soon we will be taking you on a in-depth tour of it, exclusive to N Scale Limited.

    What a splendid work!
That station is a true work of an artist :)

I love the fact that you took three separate kits from completely different manufacturers and pulled them together so well. Also, the color scheme on this kitbash is absolutely perfect! Love the red awnings. Did you add them or are they part of one of the kits?

  • Bob

Jim is a pure Genius! I absolutely love both his station kitbashes… It’s hard between the two to pick my favorite!

This is such a great kitbashed model! Absolutely love it.

    Thanks for the inspiration Jim!

Thanks guys. Frank, the awnings were left over from another kit I did years ago. Got the idea from the Harrisburg Amtrak station. They have awnings over all the second floor windows.
