Lunde Studios Stump Tower Review

008As many of you know, Lunde Studios announced three N scale kits in the fall of 2008. But after some personal and business set backs, the release date of the kits was delayed.

You may have already read in our forum – my N Scale Stump Tower kit arrived about a week ago. I haven’t done much with it, but thought I’d share an overview video of the kit with you.

Pros

  • Quick, easy essembly
  • Same quality and detail you’d expect from a Design Preservation Models/Woodland Scenics kit
  • Main wall seams are concealed behind pilasters
  • Detailed roof casting — one of the more detailed roofs I’ve seen in a kit
  • Roof-top access door/housing
  • Detailed 3D art-deco sign included

Cons

  • Quite a bit of air bubbles in castings that need to be filled
  • Door section needs quite a bit of sanding and adjusting to fit properly
  • Large amount of flashing needs to be removed from window openings

Nice job Frank, you did a great job with the video on this one.

Now I need to try harder.

  • Frank Giacobbe

Thanks Chris… I have to stop saying “ummm…” so much! But overall, I’m happy with it.

  • Chris Brimley

HaHaHa……More that any issue I had with my videos, that was what bothered me the most. Fortunately I didn’t say “ummm” as much it the later videos cause I was a little more comfortable.

I had to ask a few people I know if I really say “ummm” that much when I talk to calm my fears.

  • Greg Woolliscroft

great video….really great…I love it and it’s SO helpful and gives such great insight…thanks……….

  • Kirk

Very cool video Frank , even tho some of the cons are there its still a cool buy , I cant wait for mine to come !!!! Thanks for the review

  • Frank Giacobbe

Thanks guys. Glad you liked it. It’s definately a good kit — regardless of the few cons I pointed out.

  • Jim Boyer

Nice video, Frank. I ordered the Galt Tower building recently and this gives me an idea of what to expect.

Great video, can’t wait for mine to arrive in the mail. My order has been plagued with delays.

  • Tom

I think these kits are great. I would love to buy a couple but the $7.00 shipping PER kit is a deal killer for me.

  • Frank Giacobbe

So, if you get 10 kits, they don’t do any type of discount? You’d literally be paying $70 in shipping?

  • Tom

That’s the case if you buy different kits. They will discount the shipping if you buy more than one of the same kit.

  • Tom

I just got an update from Lynn at Lunde Studios cocerning their shipping charges. She told me there is a problem with the website. They will work with you and send you an invoice with the correct shipping if you get in touch with them, instead of using the web site shopping cart.

Thanks for looking into that and clearing it up Tom. That’s great to know.

  • Bob B.

thanks for the video Frank. I’ve not opened my kits yet other than just to make sure all the parts were there. Now they are all back in their boxes till I can start modeling again! :D

Anyways thanks for the time spent on this. This is the first time I saw this video.

    Cheers Bob
