Bruce’s Bakery Entry No. 4
(Note: While this building is still a work in progress we felt that the effort shown justified it being added)
I wanted to model a structure for a hillside with exposed basement. I decided it would be a small bar/restaurant after I found that was the only signs that suited me at my local hobby shop. Then I hit on the idea of having a lower structure beside it that would have a rooftop patio where railfans can watch trains go by, inspired by one such real life location in Glendale, Ohio. I combined this kit with the Otto’s Parts kit but reduced its false front to one story. This gives a 1-story building with daylight basement without having a seam between basement and main level. I chose to do something different for the Bruce’s Bakery kit, instead I used Plastruct sheeting for a stone foundation. I enlarged a window opening on the side adjacent to Otto’s Parts to represent the door leading from the bar to the upstairs patio. The main level of the Otto’s Parts kit could be a pool hall annex to the main structure. The portion of the structure that is underground is painted dark brown.
Commercial parts shown besides the two DPM kits include the following:
- Micro Structures 601011 fire escape
- Deluxe Innovations “Meters and pipes” 391
- Deluxe Innovations detail set 390
