Bruce’s Bakery: First Place

With this update, all winning models have been announced. All models may now be openly discuss and identified. Thanks for your entries.

And the Winner Is…

The winner of the N Scale Limited Bruce’s Bakery Build contest, with 25.69% of the overall vote is… Chris Langston with Entry No. 1.

The model Chris entered was clearly a hit with it’s distressed Coca-Cola sign, rooftop billboard and added signage. Members on our forum really seemed to love the Coca-Cola sign especially, so we’re guessing that’s what made this one just a favorite.

Congratulations on the first place win, Chris! Good job and thanks for entering.

Oops. I appologize for the incorrect posting. We accidentally published the recap before posting the first place winner. Sorry…just corrected that.

I absolutely love the detailing on this. That Coca-Cola sign is amazing. We all seem to want to know how you did it!

Thank you so much everyone for voting for my version of Bruce’s Bakery. I’m actually surprised to have won considering all the other amazing models. Thanks again.

An actual building that found on Google inspired the Coke sign. I was fascinated by the way they painted the sign around the windows creating a strange shape. So I thought I would try this on the Bruce’s Bakery building. So what I did is that I scanned the side of the building to get the dimensions precisely. Then with a photo retouching software, I painted my sign. I didn’t have decal paper so I used thin tracing paper and printed the sign on it. Next time I would try to use real decal paper.

Thanks again and if anyone has questions feel free to ask me

    Chris

How were you able to print on tissue paper? Did you just feed that into your printer?

Also, any chance you could post your original sign (the digital artwork) so we can get a sense for what you started with? Maybe post it over on our forum?

I scotch taped it to regular paper before feeding it to the printer. Use as little tracing paper as possible or it will make bumps in the printer. You will probably try a black and white version on regular paper so you know exactly where the sign will be printed. Then tape you small piece of tracing paper over it and print again in Hi res. Also I forgot to mention that you should varnish it before gluing to the structure or else the ink will run off. Use white glue diluted with water. Then press on it so that the sign fills most of the brick cracks.

I will be home tomorrow so I will post the coke sign then.
