Storm Lake Mobil Kit by JL Innovative Designs

I’ve been wanting to do a Mobil gas station for a long time. I even bought Al’s Victory Service kit by Walthers and the City Classics gas station with the intent to one day kitbash one of them into a traditional Mobil station with the barrel archicetural detail over the front door.

Well, thanks to a relatively new kit by JL Innovative Designs called Storm Lake Mobil, I won’t need to kitbash. This is their kit number 430 with laser cut basswood walls, injected molder windows and doors, full color signs and custom-cast details. This kit retails for $28.95.

I just ordered this kit. I’m excited about that!

I purchased one at the NMRA national in Milwaukee last month. I’ve added it to the stack of boxes awaiting construction. It was a must have building. Great character!

Have you opened the kit? Just wondering about the Mobil signs. Are they water-slide decals, rub-on or something else?
